I write this to you after listening to the new Fallen CD for the first
time.  Some of you may remember me as the original bass player and
co-founder of the band in 1985 along with Rob.  When the Oath disbanded in
1988, we went our separate ways.  In 1998 Rob sent me a letter about
coming to CT to re-record A Crystal Vision.  I accepted the invitation
and since then have done some cameo appearances on the Sacred Oath
releases; however, since I live in Illinois (since 1990) I knew that I
could not be a permanent member of the band.  I keep myself busy in my
current band, Low Twelve, and I’ve always fully supported whatever Sacred
Oath has continued to do in my absence.

When Rob approached me about doing this new CD, I was excited to get
together with him, Kenny, and Glen - the enduring 1987 lineup that
produced the cult classic A Crystal Vision.  They sent me rehearsal
recordings by email and I did all my bass tracking, and vocal stuff here
at my home studio in Illinois.  I knew this was special, but until I sat
down today to listen to Fallen – mastered and complete, I didn’t realize
how much.  This is truly a gift from the metal gods to all of us!

I know you’re going to love this new CD.  The recording quality is superb
and while it does have that modern quality, it still captures what we had
back in 1987 as if it were a message in a bottle that someone found
recently.  I can still hear those ideas we had back then, shine through on
this new CD.  Everything about it is pure magic.  Rob did an amazing job
pulling it all together into one monster of an album.

The musicianship is outstanding as well.  Of course that’s one of the
things the Oath has been known for, but since we’ve all been playing now
for 25 years plus,  the chops are strong and tight.  The CD doesn’t sound
as if it were recorded in parts and me sending my tracks through the
internet.  It sounds like we’re still in Glen’s basement in New Fairfield
CT,  playing together like we did back in the day.  Every one of us brings
it in a big way and I think you’ll appreciate that when you hear the songs
for yourself.  I think you’ll marvel at how tight it is for guys who
haven’t played as one in 25 years!

With Fallen you get some new songs that Rob wrote  along with Kenny and
Glen.  You also get some songs we wrote back in the 80′s but never
recorded,  like Lurking Fear, Dream Death, and others.  You even get
Rob and I doing some back and forth vocals on one track, a la Shadow Out
of Time, and I even let out one of my “patented”  long screams at the end.
There are the heavy songs and there are some very progressive tracks
with tons of stuff going on, including a choir that sings in Latin!  Like
I said,  it’s like we never left those good old days when putting this
epic masterpiece together,  brick by metal brick.

So with that I hope you decide to purchase a copy, physical or digital,
because I think you’ll be blown away.  The art is fantastic and the whole
package is just phenomenal. The old school fans as well as new metal
heads, experiencing Sacred Oath for the first time, will catch a glimpse
into a time machine.  This time machine will take you back to 1987 when
me, Rob, Kenny, and Glen were much younger and creating metal that we
loved to play.  The metal that you loved to hear!

Horns high Oath Bangers, you have a metal feast in store.  Grab a fork
and a knife, and at times, don’t be ashamed to dig in with your bare
hands!  It will be more than worth it.

Produced by Rob Thorne at his studio
in Connecticut, all 10 songs were recorded with the original 1988 line-up,
including Pete Altieri (bass), Kenny Evans (drums), and Glen Cruciani (guitar).  “The four of us haven’t recorded anything
together since “Darkness Visible” for a variety of reasons,” says Thorne, who
has produced six of the band’s more recent albums.  “I threw the idea out there of doing an EP together to celebrate our 25^th anniversary, and everyone jumped on
board.  It quickly escalated into a monstrous
LP.  It’s very exciting.”
